At Detroit Dance Studio (DDS), we want to make sure that dancing is available for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t danced in years, are currently taking classes at another school, or haven’t danced a step in your life. Our classes and schedules are designed with YOU in mind.
Our classes are based on levels (basic, beginner, intermediate, advance, all levels), where you can take classes that fit your dancing ability. Intermediate/Advance youth dancers (14-17) are encouraged to take our classes to challenge your skill set.
What's unique about DDS is that it will serve as a dance center for students of all levels and ages. Unlike most dance schools that sign you up on a 10-month program, DDS offers year-round classes, which don't confine you to one style of dance for a full year. At DDS, you can switch classes as you please. Hip-hop one week, ballet the next, followed by belly dancing and maybe a ballroom class with your significant other. You are welcome to try-out all of our classes and attend as many classes as your schedule permits.
DDS can serve as a supplement to your regular dance routine at your home dance school. It is very important for a dancer to know and learn the variations of dance styles taught by different instructors. The owner and founder of DDS simultaneously trained at three different dance schools since the age of 10. She attended classes in Southfield, MI where she was taught basic jazz steps and assisted beginning students. She trained at a dance school in Novi, MI where advance jazz techniques were emphasized to be able to compete in national dance competitions. She also attended a dance school in Detroit, MI where she took those advance jazz techniques and learned how to "feel" the music and tell a story with her body, when performing on stage. Having the opportunity to learn from instructors, outside of your home dance school, will not only save you time and money from attending dance conventions 2-3 times a year, but will hone your dance skills to make you a well rounded dancer and enable you to learn how to adapt to various types of choreography.
DDS can also serve as a center where you can:
